About the club:
Our club was chartered in 1986. We have approximately 80 members, 35 % of whom live in Kiel (250,000 inhabitants), with the majority living in smaller towns and villages. We prefer two inbound and two outbound exchanges every year.
About the region:
Kiel is the capital of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in the most northern part of Germany. It is situated close to the Baltic Sea and the North Sea is within a 90-minute car-drive. The lake district southeast of Kiel is famous for its beauty. Kiel canal — the link between the two seas– is always interesting for visitors. Hamburg in the south and the Danish border in the north can be reached within an hour. Neat historic towns and estates are typical for Kiel’s surroundings. Sunshine, rain and wind are most characteristic for the weather forecast at any time of the year. Hot, dry summers are still exceptional.
About the exchange:
International Airport: Hamburg; 75 minutes by car or coach. Nearest airport Hamburg(hourly coach connection www.kielius.de). From airports Frankfurt or Berlin it is recommended to take the fast Intercity Express ICE train to Kiel.
